About
My interest and gradual love of photography began when I was very young. I was twelve, or there abouts, when I made my first pinhole camera. It was a thrill to see the image of a skull gradually come into view on the paper, due to utilising the power of the Sun and some chemical.
Eventually, I was able afford to buy a camera, and began taking photographs of subjects that I found interesting. It became a passion, but with the attendant expense.
In those days it was film and the darkroom. Or you took your roll of film to the chemist and then waited an age for the photographs to arrive. It was only then that you came face-to-face with the reality of your work, good or bad!
I cannot remember making a conscious decision to focus mostly on landscape photography; perhaps it was my love of the outdoor that led me in that direction. I enjoyed capturing the natural environment on film, but now, digitally. The art of taking good photographs that tell a story has not changed, even in this era of, predominantly, digital photography. However, it is not a case of simply pointing and shooting, but “knowing where to stand,”[1] to capture that scene, that moment in time, which will never be yours again, no matter how many times you stand on the same spot.
The aim of this website is to bring you those unique moments, and to inspire those with the desire to take up photography, to go out and capture ‘moments’ and make them into images that will delight.
